On September 14th, the NRCS and the entire Block 8 void deck transformed into a vibrant hub of joy and camaraderie as over 90 seniors and 30 dedicated volunteers came together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. This year's celebration was unlike any before, introducing a novel blend of indoor performances and outdoor festivities that left lasting smiles on the faces of all who attended.
An Evening of Music and Merriment
The festivities were thoughtfully divided into two segments. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and inviting—a lounge setting where seniors were treated to an array of snacks and drinks. They were serenaded by their peers from the Singing Interest Group, with nine performance groups showcasing their talents. Adding to the musical delight were two exceptionally talented volunteers, Jing Ying and Stephen, who captivated everyone with their renditions of Chinese classics.
Seniors booked one of the three performance slots, and while awaiting their turn, they were guided to the outdoor activities at the void deck and mini park. Here, nostalgia was in the air as they engaged in old-school games organized by our enthusiastic volunteers. Laughter was infectious as they participated in crafts, guessed the weight of durians for a chance to take them home, and tackled traditional Mid-Autumn riddles.
Heartwarming Moments and Community Bonds
Many seniors expressed that they hadn't experienced such joy in a long time. One remarked, "This evening brought back so many cherished memories. I haven't had this much fun in years!" Volunteers were equally moved, heartened by the seniors' heartfelt gratitude. "Seeing their smiles makes all our efforts worthwhile," shared a volunteer.
The celebration extended beyond our planned attendees. Young families passing by were drawn to the lively scene, and their children joined in the fun alongside our seniors. It was a beautiful sight—a true embodiment of community spirit, bridging generations and fostering connections.

Embodying Our Motto: "To Spur Each Other in Love and Good Works"
At the heart of NRCS lies our commitment "to spur each other in love and good works." This event was a shining example of our motto in action.
