The Show Must Go On!

Every year since 2017, NRCS together with the help of community partners like Joo Seng Residence Committee and Evangelize China Fellowship, will put up a community Christmas celebration at the multi-purpose hall in Joo Seng. Over the years, the event has come to be known as a landmark community celebration that is attended by over 400 residents every year.

In 2020, due to the restrictions for public gathering during the pandemic, NRCS is unable to organize a physical event. Nevertheless, we did not want to disappoint our residents. With the assistance of Potong Pasir CC and Joo Seng RC, we soldiered on to present our first ever virtual Christmas celebration that is broadcast live online!

Since we're doing it online, we have made the celebration available for the entire Potong Pasir SMC and the response was overwhelming. We envisioned a night of celebration presented by the residents and stakeholders in Joo Seng to the entire estate, instead of having hired hands. We are thankful that we managed to pull off a 2 hour program with presentations of singing by a church group that grew up in the area, as well as a dance item presented nonetheless by our seniors at NRCS. The average age of the dancers was over 70 years old!

Of course we also had our lucky draws and giveaways that are always mighty popular with our residents.

We were surprised that the virtual turn out for the event was overwhelming and we received many good reviews. Especially in times like these, we all need a little cheer. Keeping the community alive is more important than ever. We are thank you to our partners and our performers for pushing through to keep this community tradition alive.

We look forward to returning to normalcy so that we can all meet face to face in our next Christmas celebration!
